The Urban SatchelSo I was doing an article on the world’s most extravagant handbags and I have to admit I was pretty impressed with the selection, even though the price tags of some of these bags went as high as $100,00 and more.

However there was one that I was honestly distraught over, mainly with confusion, and knew I had to do a bit more research on it.

Louis Vuitton is one of the most renowned designer names in the world, and I am definitely a fan.

The Urban Satchel however, which is one of their most recent and definitely most talked about releases, honestly has me baffled.

The handbag, covered in everything from an empty pack of cigarettes to a package of gum, sweetener wrapper, bandaid…

I understand fashion and realize that many of the most exquisite and desirable fashions are a little bit kooky, but this is just too much for me. Are people just riding along with it because they think the Louis Vuitton name could never do any wrong?

No matter if you live in New York or LA, I simply could not imagine anyone feeling sexy or fashionable wearing this horrid bag.

I have read some of the comments of the public on this bag and surprisingly, almost all were positive towards the bag and considering it as the must-have look of the year.

To me it looks like someone dropped their bag in a garbage compactor or left it in a bar overnight, but what do you think?

Style Icon: Rihanna

RihannaSo I didn’t really care for her look at the MuchMusic Video Awards this year, but besides that, Rihanna has definitely become a style icon in my eyes.

When she first came out with songs like Pon De Replay and Music of the Sun, she was definitely hot, but not so much a celebrity that stood out in terms of style.

Over the past year or so however, Rihanna has definitely made a dramatic change in her looks. She has a new haircut, a completely new and unique style, and as of lately I have not seen her step out wearing anything but first class fashions all the way.

She gives us grown up glamour to the nines but sex appeal at the same time, and this is a look that all women strive to achieve.

Rihanna

Just take a look at her in this sexy hot pink number here, all I can say is…wow.

Although early on in her career she seemed to have a sort of molded fashion sense, where she almost just put on whatever she was told to, it seems that she has really come full circle and is finally doing her own thing - which we love.

These days it seems she just can’t go wrong with her fashions…ahem, besides the MMVAs but that is just my opinion, everyone else I know thought she looked fantastic…and from her earrings down to her sky high heels, Rihanna always looks drop dead gorgeous.

Rihanna has certain god given features that are so unique from all the other female artists we see out there today, and she is truly something special.

She’s got more than just great looks and fashion sense though, she is a reigning talent and one of the key players in the music industry today, and that’s why we love her, and why Rihanna is, without a doubt, a true style icon.

Revlon ColorStay Soft & Smooth Lipcolor I have tried out quite a few lipsticks in my time, believe me, but I have never been able to find one that lasts through the entire day without having to reapply.

Sure it’s not that hard to touch up during the day here and there, but when you really want outstanding lipcolor that you are not going to need to muss and fuss over, it seemed to me as though there were no successful candidates.

That was until I tried out the Revlon ColorStay Soft & Smooth Lipcolor.

With 30 different colors to choose from, I adore this lipstick because it not only lasts the whole day but also it is so soft and smooth that it leaves your lips feeling luscious and moisturized.

For a very affordable price of about $10 you can get this fantastic lipstick for yourself, and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

To all you makeup divas out there like myself who love a good lipstick that you can hang on to for good and get the results you are looking for, the Revlon ColorStay Soft & Smooth Lipcolor is going to be a perfect option for you.

The best part of all? Revlon offers an entire ColorStay line of eye shadow, lipliner, mascara, and other makeup that you can check out.

Vests: The New Layering Piece

Jun 27, 2008 Author: Michelle | Filed under: Accessories, Celebrities, Colors, News, Reviews, Styles

Kim Kardashian One of the hottest new fashion trends out there today is the vest.

The new layering piece, the vest can be worn in a number of different ways, and there is such a wide selection of different colors, patterns and styles to choose from that they will never be boring.

The latest way to wear a vest is to mix it up. Try wearing it unbuttoned over a plain top and jeans or dress it up by wearing it with heels and a blouse with a ruffled front.

The only real rule when it comes to vests is making sure that the layer underneath is at least a bit longer than the vest, otherwise it will look tacky.

Another tip is to use long layered necklaces when you are wearing a vest, and keep the shirt underneath low cut in the neck so that you can emphasize your face and jewellery.

The lovely Kim Kardashian sure knows how to pull off the vest, wearing a sexy black one over a tight fitting white tank and dark fitted jeans. She keeps the jewellery minimal, with only a small gold wrist band and cute earrings and necklace.

Have fun with your look, and remember that you don’t have to stick with black and brown all the time. Reds, blues, and greys all look great on vests, so try a few styles out and see what works well for you.

One of the best holidays of the year is coming up - well for us in the great white North anyway - Canada Day, and what better way to celebrate than by showing your colors?

This doesn’t mean you need to paint your face up in a Canadian flag and get crazy, but if you are anything like me, you like celebrating holidays and when it comes to Canada Day, it is really all about color.

Here are a few outfits that I think would be perfect for the long weekend, whether you are heading out to see a parade, hanging with the kids at the park, or going out to dinner with some friends.

Sears for Shoes?

Jun 25, 2008 Author: Michelle | Filed under: Accessories, Colors, Magazines, Reviews, Shoes, Styles

Sears
I was in a hurry the other day - it seems that happens a lot - and I needed a pair of gorgeous shoes within a couple days. I was checking out various websites, deciding to take my quest online after I couldn’t find anything I liked in any of the stores in my area.

Everything was either too expensive, too long for shipping, too tacky…then I came to Sears. A lot of people would laugh at the thought of getting apparel from Sears, in fact I have never heard anyone under the age of thirty going to Sears for their clothes and accessories.

I decided to check out what they had to offer, and I am so grateful that I did. They actually have some very stylish, modern footwear to choose from, and I found not one but two great pairs that I bought right away.

As a fashion fanatic, I have to say how excited I am that I have discovered just what Sears has to offer, and the best part of all is that their products are just as high quality as Le Chateau, Victoria’s Secret or any other great retailers that I mention often on here, but much less expensive.

They are always bringing in new items and expanding their selection, so take a minute to check out the Sears website and see all that they have to offer. Oh, did I mention that they also have next-day delivery?

Ooh La La: Le Chateau Outlet Store

Le Chateau

I have a little special occasion coming up this weekend and was trying to decide where to go to find that perfect little outfit.

I did some thinking and then I came up with a great idea - one of my favorite all-time stores, the Le Chateau outlet store.

I love Le Chateau, I have always been a big fan, but sometimes the prices at the regular store are a little high for my taste.

I could completely understand heading there if you work in an office and want some youthful, modern workwear or heading to a gala and want a great formal dress, but if you just want something quick and inexpensive but still high quality and fashionable, the outlet store is the place to go.

Don’t get me wrong the prices at the regular retail outlets are definitely reasonable, with almost no item of clothing being priced higher than $70 or so.

You basically get top designer clothing at very affordable prices, and I am certainly looking forward to spending a couple hundred there and getting some great pieces to add to my wardrobe.

It was the outlet store on my mind today however. There are a few different Le Chateau outlet stores out there, and from what I hear several more are going to be in business very soon.

I live near Toronto in Ontario, Canada, and so the one I motor to when I’m in search of a great deal on a great piece is in Barrie. Located at 411 Bayfield Street in Barrie, you can also visit the Le Chateau website if you want to view some of their latest styles.

Few pieces at the outlet store are over the $20-$30 range, which is fantastic and perfect for this weekend because I am completely broke but hey, a girl’s still gotta look great.

Keep in mind that you will usually not be able to buy these same styles at the outlet store, but it will help to give you a better idea of what the company has to offer and what direction their fashion taste is going in.

We all know how difficult it can be to find a really good beauty product of any sort, and this has never been truer than when it applies to a face cleanser.

I have extremely sensitive skin - you blow on my skin and it goes red for hours. I actually have very good skin, clear and healthy, but very, very sensitive and quite dry.

It has therefore been very hard for me to find a good face wash, one that is going to clean and purify but without over tightening or leaving my skin irritated and itchy.

I have to admit that I already loved Oil of Olay products even before I tried this one, as they are the only ones that have been gentle enough for my delicate skin and which provide it with the moisture that it needs without leaving an oily feeling afterwards.

I was on the hunt for a good face wash so I went to the website Olay For You, where you literally get to pick and choose answers to different questions which are used to determine what the best products are going to be for you.

My results offered a few different product ideas, but the Oil of Olay Gentle Foaming Face Wash With Aloe for Sensitive Skin was the first I wanted to try.

Oil of Olay

The wash comes in a tube and it stands on its top, and is very easy to squeeze out and apply to the face. I love that you only need to use about a dime-sized amount of the wash and it is enough to cleanse your entire face.

It took my makeup off very well, even eyeliner and mascara which is fabulous because I’m used to just using the good ole Oil of Olay soap bar which is fine for that but very drying on my skin.

I was really impressed with this product from Olay because it leaves your skin feeling so moisturized and not super tight and squeaky clean which is important to me. It leaves your skin soft and smooth and yet is tough enough to handle dirt, oil and makeup.

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone, especially those of you who have super sensitive skin as I do and who are looking for a fantastic but affordable product that you can use for the long term.

Hot Tops for the Summer

I love the summer. There is nothing better than waking up and getting to dig into your summer wardrobe. The clothes are simple and adorable, and there are so many fun options.

A girl can never have too many cute shirts, at least that is my philosophy, and here are a few that you should look for on your next run to the mall.

Hot Accessory: Chunky Necklaces

May 16, 2008 Author: Michelle | Filed under: Accessories, Celebrities, Colors, Reviews, Styles, Women

One of the hottest summer fashions this year is the chunky necklace. Done in a variety of forms, these big, bold necklaces always make a statement, and you can use them to bring a splash of color to any ensemble.

From feathers and chains to beads and baubles, there is such a vast and varied selection to choose from that you are sure to find pieces you love.

Just be careful to keep other jewelry to a minimum when you are wearing one of these oversized chains, because you do not want to overdo it.

One of my favorite looks featuring this hot new accessory is a plain white t-shirt or tank top and simple skirt, especially when you do the necklace in a bright color like orange or hot pink, because it adds flair to the simplicity of the outfit and the color by your face will brighten you up.

Perfect for summer, these necklaces range in design and price, so take a bit of time to browse through the selection and find a few that you adore.

Here are a few of my favorites that you may want to add to your jewelry collection just in time for the upcoming summer season.

Chunky Necklaces
