What Michael Kors Bag Would You Like?

Apr 25, 2008 Author: Michelle | Filed under: Accessories, Colors, Magazines, Reviews, Styles, Women

Michael Kors is a fabulous fashion designer as we all know, and he has a gorgeous handbag selection to choose from.

The problem is deciding which one of these hot accessories you want for yourself. Here are a few of my personal favorites.

Brookville Medium Bowling Bag

Brookville Medium Bowling Bag

The Brookville Medium Bowling Bag is a gorgeous Michael Kors creation that features double straps with a 10-inch drop, and a magnetic snap closure to ensure your valuables stay protected.

There is an inside zip pocket as well as a cell phone pocket and three open pockets.

This would be the perfect bag for going out at night with the girls. It will carry your makeup, wallet, phone, PDA, keys, and everything else you need to fit in there, with room to spare.

Hudson Pebble Large Tote

Hudson Pebble Large Tote

This is a great daywear bag. It is a bit smaller and features double handles with a 7-inch drop, so it is tighter over the shoulder but super cute when paired with jeans and a t-shirt or a cute summer dress.

I love the buckle detail on the front and sides, and the canvas lining with zip pocket, 3 open pocks and cell phone and key keepers are great because you don’t have to scrounge through your bag to find what you are looking for.

Joplin Giraffe Medium Shoulder Satchel

Joplin Giraffe Medium Shoulder Satchel

This is a really fun, funky bag. It is actually ideal for either day or night which is nice, and comes with a printed canvas in giraffe print.

The shoulder strap has a 8 1/2-inch drop, and features a magnetic snap closure, hinged hardware detail at the straps and an interior zip pocket, 2 open pockets, a cell phone pocket and key keeper.

I envision this hot little number with a little black dress or even a modern workwear ensemble, maybe in chocolate brown to not make the outfit too dark.

I’ll tell you right now that if you are looking for more than just a fashionable and modern handbag, one that is also durable and timeless, a Michael Kors handbag will be perfect for you.

I have several myself and if I could afford to buy his entire line I would, in a second. You will certainly not regret a purchase like this, and I would also advise that you check out what else he has to offer, everything from sunglasses and sandals to watches and fragrances.

If you are interested in any of these handbags or any other pieces from the Michael Kors’ collection, you can purchase them through the Michael Kors website as well as through retailers that offer his line.

Jelly Sandals: The Hot New Look?

Apr 22, 2008 Author: Michelle | Filed under: Colors, Magazines, News, Reviews, Shoes, Styles, Who Wears What

I first saw these Givenchy jelly gladiator sandals on Style, and although I was not sure whether I liked them or not at first, they definitely caught my eye.

They called them “the must-have shoe for spring”, and although I am usually a fan of Givenchy I have to say that I do not agree here.

They remind me of a more retro version of the “croc”, which I never really took a liking to, no matter how many thousands of feet I saw wearing them around me.

Givenchy

Givenchy has spun a cheeky take on Roman style with this innovative new shoe, and they are not the only one. Other luxury brands such as Gucci, Marc Jacobs and Fendi have all brought their own version of this jelly sandal to the table as well.

Chanel is also doing the jelly, with a sandal that is clean with minimal adornment, only a rhinestone by the big toe. The price of their sandals are pretty staggering at $295, especially since it is, after all, a jelly sandal, but other versions such as Steve Madden’s are much more affordable at just $39.95.

These sandals have not really been out long enough to tell whether they are going to take off or not, but I know that I will certainly not be rushing out to the stores to buy them, that’s for sure.

Heidi MontagOkay so we already have news of clothing lines from Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port of The Hills, and now Heidi Montag is launching her own line, Heidiwood.

Not such a creative title, since we already have so many copies of the Hollywood name and this little Heidiwood thing reminds me of a lame spinoff of the lovely Dolly Parton’s Dollywood … but moving on.

Heidi debuted her new fashion range last week in Hollywood, looking cute in giant black stilettos and a skimpy zebra print halter top.

Her style is decent but I certainly do not think that sales will skyrocket for this clothing line she has just released.

Oh, did I mention that her boyfriend Spencer Pratt proposed to her on stage, giving her two dozen long-stemmed pink roses before kissing her on the lips?

So her clothing line may be a little stripper-esque and her claim to fame came from an … ahem … reality TV show, at least she and good ole Spence are happy.

One of my all-time favorite stores, as I have mentioned before, is Victoria’s Secret. They cater to the sophisticated woman and yet manage to keep their designs flirty and fun.

With summer fast approaching, there is no better time than now to check out the 2008 swimwear collection available through Victoria’s Secret now.

Whatever your size and style preference you will find the perfect bathing suit, and with their low prices you can even afford to get more than one.

Although there are over one hundred different gorgeous styles to choose from, here are a few of my personal favorites.

Vix

Vix Floral Sequin Sliding Triangle Top & Adjustable Tanga Bottom

This is a stunning bikini that offers as much luxury and elegance that you can find in a two-piece swimsuit.

Exclusively for Victoria’s Secret, this little number offers decent coverage, with sequin embellishment and embroidery, lined cups for no see through, and is made of imported Brazilian polyamide/elastane.

It is available in sizes XS-L, top $110, bottom $60.

Beach Sexy

Beach Sexy Shimmer Stripe Sliding Triangle Top & String Bottom

A little bit disco-esque, this two-piece is full of sparkle and shine.

Trendy and flirty, you will definitely stand out on the beach in this one, with a center rhinestone heart and contrasting red string ties.

Crafted from imported nylon/spandex, this bathing suit will shape to your body like a glove, is available in sizes XS-L, top $32, bottom $24.

Rampage

Rampage Metallic Triangle Top & Low-Rise Bottom

Featuring an all-over scroll print, light removable padding, neck tie and back clasp, this gorgeous little number is fully lined and made of imported nylon/spandex.

The flirty flippy skirt bottom accentuates your curves and covers you up a bit more if you want more coverage on the bottom.

Available in sizes XS-L through all Victoria’s Secret outlets, this set is $49 for the top, $51 for bottom.

Monokini

Very Sexy Ombrè One-Piece Monokini

As you can see I’m more of a bikini girl myself, but there are a couple of one-piece suits that I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on.

Take this monokini for example, which features blended ocean-blue and mauve colors.

This one-piece has an open back and is fully lined. It ties at both the neck and back and features a plunging neckline, for a price of only $60.

Vix

Vix Jeweled Cut-Out One Piece

This is another of my favorites. A stone-bold stunner, this one-piece comes with beveled jeweled stones on the front and a one-shoulder asymmetrical silhouette that connects the top and bottom on one side.

With minimal back coverage and the bright white color, this bathing suit screams sex appeal.

Available in sizes XS-L this one-piece is yours for a very reasonable price of $165.

These are just a few of the swimsuits Victoria’s Secret is featuring this year, so make sure that you check out their retail stores or website to view the full collection.

Customized World: Personalize It!

Apr 20, 2008 Author: Michelle | Filed under: Getting it Cheap, Lingerie, Magazines, News, Pets, Reviews, Styles

If you are looking for a great gift for you - and your boyfriend - you will definitely want to check out Customized World.

I was flipping through a magazine the other day and noticed an ad for the company near the back, and decided to check them out for myself.

I am usually put off by things that are overly cheap because when it comes to fashion although I do not think you need to spend a fortune to get quality, I also do not think that you need to be super stingy either.

One thing I noticed right away was the low prices of the apparel they were offering, everything from t-shirts and bottoms to bridal wear and doggie clothing.

You can get any of their products customized personally for you, and the greatest part is that you do not have to choose from previously selected quotes and words, but rather can make them up completely on your own.

HottiesMy favorite was the set of customized underwear or “Hotties” as they refer to them.

When I ordered my set, the deal was 2 pair for $20 which is very reasonable, and the shipping was cheap and very prompt, as I received them in the mail only four days later.

I absolutely love them, and although they are certainly not the most extravagant piece of intimate apparel I have ever bought, I was definitely satisfied with my purchase, and so was my boyfriend once he saw his name inscribed on them.

Love It or Hate It: The Steve Madden Chap

Apr 20, 2008 Author: Michelle | Filed under: Fashion Don'ts, Magazines, News, Reviews, Shoes, Styles

I must say that there are relatively few pieces that cannot be somehow made to work and look great, but there are still those few styles that I just don’t get.

The Steve Madden chap has started to become quite popular, and even though I keep going back to the website and into stores to check out the shoe now named as “Steve Madden’s Most Wanted”, I still don’t see what all the fuss is about.

There are actually about 20 different versions of this shoe that Madden presently has available, some of which I will let off the hook for the time being while others I simply have to make a point about.

Notting I don’t care who you are, you cannot tell me that these do not remind you of your professor’s worn out old shoes only with a heel stuck on the bottom.

I tried, I really did, to come up with any possible outfit that this shoe could even remotely look decent with, and there was nothing.

Unless you are dressing up as a senior citizen for Halloween, I can’t imagine why anyone would like these shoes - sorry Steve.

Shawnee Then there is also the Shawnee, which really does a disservice to the moccasin.

Talk about bland and boring - I usually love Steve’s designs, a combination of youth and sophistication, but with these I have to say he has gone off track.

Maybe if there was a higher heel or the fringe and string were scrapped … maybe not. What do you think?

Some people idolize Victoria Beckham’s style while others go into a frenzy when they see that she continues to make one “Best Dressed” list after another.

Either way it is safe to say that she is not going to have much success with her clothing line, as it was dumped soon after it was released.

Kitson and Fred Segal have dumped Beckham’s line after poor sales. There was also a serious lack of promotional work, as Victoria even refused to do in-store promotions to advertise her line, which definitely did not help things any.

Victoria Beckham

As reported on Holly Scoop, Fraser Ross, owner of Kitson, says that:

We asked her PR people so many times for her to appear but she didn’t. Celebrity lines are no different from an album or music tour. They have to be promoted to sell.

To some people this news is sad, while others are thrilled. Apart from her time with the Spice Girls, I think Victoria Beckham’s style is quite stylish and pretty, and she looks darn good after having two kids.

With her lack of promotional work however, whether it be due to laziness or ignorance, it is only expected that her entrepreneurial efforts here would fail.

Angelina Jolie: A Celeb With Real Style

Apr 9, 2008 Author: Michelle | Filed under: Celebrities, Magazines, News, Styles, Television

Although I am not one to follow the trends of celebrities necessarily, there are a few that I like to keep my eye on. Not because they are imitating what everyone else is wearing at the time in Hollywood, but rather because they have their own unique, funky flair.

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie definitely fits into this category, at least for me, and in my opinion she is not only one of the most beautiful women in the world but one with the best style as well.

Ok, so we are not all going to be able to copy that hot leather number she wore in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, but there are many of her stylish fashions that we can take ideas from, and yet keep our own style and individuality as well.

One of the things I love most about Angelina is how she can completely transform, from devilish vixen to ladylike and feminine and she suits both styles to absolute perfection. I know, I know, she could be wearing a paper bag and make it look vogue, but it doesn’t take a fashion pro to look at this woman and see that she has true style.

One of Jolie’s most memorable red carpet moments was in 2007 during one of her first public appearances with beau Brad Pitt. It was at the Golden Globes that she showed up in an elegant and demure strapless St. John couture gown, and looked absolutely stunning.

You can find variations of this dress for cheap at boutiques around the world, in the event that you are an average person like myself who cannot afford to pay more for a dress than you did for your mortgage.

Remember to keep your accessories light, as you rarely ever see Angelina with a load of jewelry on her arms or other pieces distracting from her outfit. Focus on the staple of your outfit and then use a few pieces to accent it, such as a knit shrug or a small diamond bracelet.

Angelina JolieToday Angelina is considered as being a Hollywood glamour icon to many, myself included, and more than anything it is her sincerity and confidence that gives her this undeniable, unavoidable allure and beauty.

If you want to get a little more Angelina Jolie-ish yourself, here are a few tips that will help. First and foremost though, you need to feel confident because this will shine through and make anything you wear stand out.

Think of long, lean fashions that will show off your feminine curves, because these are the types of clothes that Angelina tends to stick to. Her clothes are always womanly and pretty but without ever crossing the line of matronly.

She wears a lot of caramel and gold colored clothing, which is no wonder because these hues go so well with her golden bronze skin. Finish off with a simple black dress and cute heels, an outfit she is infamous for, and a pair of big dark shades and you will have a few pieces in your wardrobe that will have you as sexy and saucy as Angelina herself and ready to hit the town.

So the Junos were last night, and I was really thrilled for it, considering that Canada is my home country and I am proud that talent like Feist, Michael Buble, Triumph, and Finger Eleven all hail from the Great White North.

More than anything I was excited to see what everyone was wearing, and there were some really great and not so great outfits.

Okay, okay, so the Canadian award shows do not exactly stand up to the Hollywood-esque Grammys, Tonys, and Academy Awards of the United States, but I was really not worried about the glitz and glamor of it.

Feist
On a personal note I favor the Canadian award shows in a way because everyone is so laid back and relaxed - one of the members from Wintersleep, the band that celebrated their Juno win for New Group of the Year, actually even brought a coffee on stage with him to accept the award. I have to say I loved it.

Now on to the outfits. The star of the night, Feist, who I think was more than deserving of her five awards, looked absolutely adorable.

She switched into a few different outfits throughout the night, but each showed her unique, funky eclectic style and I thought they all looked perfect on her.

Avril Lavigne stuck to her usual punk-pop look, dressed in a black dress with white polka dots and coordinated shoes. She was more dressed up than I’ve seen her before, but without going too far out of her element.

Michael Buble
So maybe it wasn’t the most elegant ensemble but she still looked super cute, and you could tell she was having a lot of fun and not taking any of it too seriously, hamming it up for the camera and carrying around her little streamer stick.

I have to add in Mr. Michael Buble here who looked as handsome as ever at the awards show last night. Not only does he have one of the most beautiful voices I have heard since Fred Astaire but he also dresses to the max.

For the most part the styles were pretty dull, with the majority of presenters and performers wearing basic black and no one really standing out.

Overall it was still a good show, one that I really enjoyed watching. It was laid back and relaxed, good ole Canada style.
