Ooh La La: Le Chateau Outlet Store

Jun 18, 2008 Author: Michelle | Filed under: Accessories, Colors, Hair, Head to Toe, Reviews, Styles

Le Chateau

I have a little special occasion coming up this weekend and was trying to decide where to go to find that perfect little outfit.

I did some thinking and then I came up with a great idea - one of my favorite all-time stores, the Le Chateau outlet store.

I love Le Chateau, I have always been a big fan, but sometimes the prices at the regular store are a little high for my taste.

I could completely understand heading there if you work in an office and want some youthful, modern workwear or heading to a gala and want a great formal dress, but if you just want something quick and inexpensive but still high quality and fashionable, the outlet store is the place to go.

Don’t get me wrong the prices at the regular retail outlets are definitely reasonable, with almost no item of clothing being priced higher than $70 or so.

You basically get top designer clothing at very affordable prices, and I am certainly looking forward to spending a couple hundred there and getting some great pieces to add to my wardrobe.

It was the outlet store on my mind today however. There are a few different Le Chateau outlet stores out there, and from what I hear several more are going to be in business very soon.

I live near Toronto in Ontario, Canada, and so the one I motor to when I’m in search of a great deal on a great piece is in Barrie. Located at 411 Bayfield Street in Barrie, you can also visit the Le Chateau website if you want to view some of their latest styles.

Few pieces at the outlet store are over the $20-$30 range, which is fantastic and perfect for this weekend because I am completely broke but hey, a girl’s still gotta look great.

Keep in mind that you will usually not be able to buy these same styles at the outlet store, but it will help to give you a better idea of what the company has to offer and what direction their fashion taste is going in.

MMVAs: Who Wore What

Jun 16, 2008 Author: Michelle | Filed under: Accessories, Celebrities, Colors, Formal Wear, Head to Toe, Styles, Television

The MMVAs were last night - MuchMusic Video Awards for those of you who live under a rock - and of course I was dying to see what everyone was wearing.

All in all it was a terrific show overall but in particular the fashions that everyone was sporting.

RihannaRihanna’s look for me was, well, okay. I didn’t really enjoy or see the point of the sailor-inspired hat with the pirate frill shirt…oh right and the leather pants.

It was a bit much for me, I like creativity but this was just too much black, too much frill, too much everything.

It was similar to Hannah Simone’s purple frilly dress but hers was just enough, while Rihanna’s version I thought was a bit over the top.

K-OsOf course I’m going to throw K-Os in here because I am a huge fan, not only of his incredible music but of his style as well.

K-Os is definitely one in a million, he can throw together almost anything and make it look fashionable.

I think this guy is a true talent and come on…how many people can pull off yellow rimmed sunglasses and still look gorgeous.

K-Os is just that good.

Devon SoltendieckI have to head to one of the hosts of the show, Devon Soltendieck, for this next one.

All the hosts looked great but I thought Devon’s style perfectly suited the event, and not only that but his personality.

Anyone who watches MuchMusic already knows that Devon definitely shows off his personality in his clothes and he was just as great to look at last night.

Whitney Port Now on to one that I didn’t like so much. Whitney Port is a beautiful girl, but her “dress” last night, in my opinion, was atrocious.

I’m not sure if she thought Canada was as cold as the North Pole or if she was just trying to play it casual, but she would have looked better in almost anything other than this.

The loose fabric doesn’t drape right on her curvalicious body and leaves her looking like she’s got no figure at all. Doesn’t she “work” for a fashion magazine? Maybe she should take some fashion tips from Perez…

Perez Hilton Perez Hilton was in attendance, and looked stylish and very well put together, punched up with a pink shirt and striped tie.

When Perez Hilton is beating almost all the ladies in terms of fashion, you know that there are a few missing stylists in the chain.

At least we can say that there were no huge fashion disasters, and in my opinion Whitney Port’s peacock-inspired number was pretty much the worst one of the night.

Other than that, the awards show was fantastic as always, and here’s to everyone in attendance who had to deal with a bit of torrential downfall there.

Where to Shop: Bebe

There are some terrific clothing companies out there, but one of my favorites is Bebe. I know whenever I need a quick fix up, a gorgeous ensemble perfect for the occasion, that I can head here and find just what I need - and without spending a fortune as well.

They offer tops, sweaters, dresses, jumpsuits, skirts, shorts and crops, pants, denim, blazers and jackets, outerwear, swimwear, shoes and more.

They have just received a new shipment of sexy, hot summer styles, and here are a few of my personal faves.

Embroidered Smocked Short Sleeve Top

Embroidered Smocked Short Sleeve Top

This cute off the shoulder smocked shirt is perfect for those warm summer days. It is casual enough to wear for a day to the beach and yet you can easily dress it up with a pair of chocolate brown espadrilles or strappy sandals and skirt and wear out for a night on the town.

For just $69 you can add this sweet top to your summer wardrobe, and it is also available in white.

I love the decorative floral pattern on the front, which is pretty yet subtle enough that it is not overbearing.

Beading adds to the excitement, there are two bows on the top near the neckline of the shirt, and all the material is fully lined.

Ruched Bustier

Ruched Bustier

I would definitely save this look for a night out to the bar or club, but it is absolutely one of my top picks from their summer selection.

The bright funky orange color is what first caught my attention, because it screams look at me and is ideal for the gorgeous summer weather.

Sexy and sophisticated, this bustier features a padded built-in bra with boning and comes with a matching three-buckle belt.

There is a hidden side zipper to ensure you can squeeze in, and there are even detachable spaghetti straps for the days when you want to make the look a bit more casual.

Floral Fantasy Flare Dress

Floral Fantasy Flare Dress

I loved this dress as soon as I laid eyes on it. Fashionable and funky but not over the top, this cute dress fits in all the right places.

I like how the bodice of the dress is snug and tight fitting and features criss cross detailed stitching for extra enhancement and enchantment.

Pair this pretty smock with a gold arm band and espadrilles and you are set for the day, change into cute gold peep toe heels and you will look stunning through the night .

Made of a silk/spandex blend, this dress is available for just $89, and will make a wonderful addition to any wardrobe.

These are just three of hundreds of different styles offered at Bebe, and whether you check them out online or visit one of their retail locations, you are sure to fall in love and make a few return trips in the future.

It’s Summer: Stay Cool But Stay Sexy

Jun 7, 2008 Author: Michelle | Filed under: Colors, Girls, Head to Toe, Styles, Women

So summer is finally upon us, and now that we are dealing with the sweltering heat it is important to learn how to dress cool but stay looking sexy.

Go Short and Sweet

Sundress

The maxi dress is still as popular as ever, but if you want to look fashionable and still stay cool and comfortable in the warm weather, a sweet, sexy sundress is one style that really appeals to all.

There is so much versatility and variety with the sundress, as you can find them in all lengths, cuts, colors and styles.

Another advantage of the sundress is that women of all ages can wear them, from girls in their teens to working mothers, the right sundress always looks great.

Women are not the only one that love the sundress, as men get pretty excited over it as well. It is basically the perfect combination of sweet and sexy, the fit making it sexy but the fabric keeping it sweet.

Sundresses are flying off the shelves this year, as they have so many years in the past, and they will really never go out of style.

Comfort is key when it comes to sundresses, and because of this they are often made out of lightweight materials such as cotton or lycra, usually done in floral patterns and gingham checks, but there are literally hundreds of different patterns and designs to choose from.

Another great thing about the sundress is that you can easily take it from day to night, making it the perfect everyday wear for the summer.

Throw it on with a pair of flip flops to make it casual for a trip to the beach or brunch with your girlfriends, and then spice it up with a cute pair of heels or espadrilles and sexy clutch for the nighttime.

Completely multi-purpose, cool and comfortable, every woman should have at least a few sundresses as staples in their wardrobe.

Make Accessories Hot to Keep Your Cool

Accessories

Accessories are always fun, and great for finishing off an ensemble.

The best thing about accessories is that they keep you looking sexy and hot but without raising your temperature.

A pair of aviator sunglasses or an oversized jeweled bracelet will be perfect for summer and complete your outfits but without leaving you feeling smothered.

It is important that you choose the right accessories for the outfit, otherwise you will throw the whole thing off.

With a sundress for instance, you will not want to overdo the jewelry. A pair of simple sunglasses, maybe a flower in the hair - sticking with just one or two bold pieces is the best idea.

If you are going out for the night on the other hand you can really play around a bit more. Pair a sexy dress with a pearl necklace or a denim skirt and blouse with an elegant updo.

One great idea is to collect some seashells, then choose the ones you like best and glue a bobby pin sideways onto each of them and use as decorative hair clips.

The key here is balance, and you never want to be too casual or overly jazzed up. Summertime is the time for doing style in comfort, and there is no better way to add to your own personal style than with the right accessories.

Don’t Forget Your Feet

Sandals

Of course you can’t forget about your feet when it comes to summer.

Sure, walking around in barefoot may be fine on the beach, but for the day to day you are going to need to keep your feet cool but sexy and stylish.

You don’t need to wear high heels every day and night, but having a couple pairs in your collection is important.

If you feel like a splurge, check out the line of Jimmy Choo strappy sandals for this season.

From grecian to bejeweled, these sandals are really out of this world and although they may be a bit pricey, they are well worth it for the versatility they offer.

It is always good to have a pair or two of flip flops, whether you just want to wear them around the house and pool or out to a comfortable breakfast some summer morning.

The thong sandal is one of the hottest shoe styles this summer, Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs have a fantastic collection of these for you to drool over.

The most important thing here is that you realize you do not have to dress frumpy or overly skimpy just to deal with the warm summer weather.

Go to the right designers, choose the right fashions, and you will be stunning in the sunlight all summer long.

Shop With Me: 4 Great Summer Outfits

May 27, 2008 Author: Michelle | Filed under: Accessories, Colors, Head to Toe, Styles, Women

There is no better time than the summertime to have fun and play around with your wardrobe. There are so many fun, flirty fashions to choose from, and is definitely my favorite time of year.

There are always those occasions during summer that you want a special outfit, and here are some great - and inexpensive - ensemble ideas.

Concert

We all love heading to those summer concerts, but what to wear? You want something that is going to be trendy and chic but comfortable at the same time, especially if you are going to a concert that is outdoors where you will be doing a lot of standing or walking.

This outfit is perfect because it will work whether it is hot or cool outside, and the boots are sexy but will not be doing a number on your feet. The bag adds a splash of color and you are definitely going to be the highlight of the party.

Day at the Beach

Ah, a lazy, relaxing day at the beach. Comfort is key, but you still want to look sexy and stylish. I love this bikini by Victoria’s Secret because it is cute and fun, and I simply can’t get enough of the denim cut-off shorts that everyone is wearing this season.

Pair that with a cute beach tote that will hold all your goodies from tanning oil to a picnic lunch, and cute espadrille-like wedges and you’re all set.

Date Night

What better way to spend a date than under the stars on a warm summer night? Now the only thing is finding something to wear, well here is something I think is perfect for date night.

The dress is definitely sexy but still casual, and the strappy silver sandals add a touch of pizazz. I adore this white clutch purse from Bella Nova, and the pearls make this look classic and more mature.

Date Night

Working Girl

This sexy fitted polka dot pencil skirt with high waist and buttons lined down the back matches to perfection with this modern blouse and coordinating handbag.

I love this sassy but classy workwear ensemble, in particular the snazzy Jessica Simpson cut-out wedge anklestrap pumps which are sexy but reformed enough for the office.

I love the summer. There is nothing better than waking up and getting to dig into your summer wardrobe. The clothes are simple and adorable, and there are so many fun options.

A girl can never have too many cute shirts, at least that is my philosophy, and here are a few that you should look for on your next run to the mall.

Style Icon: Sharon Stone

Sharon Stone If there is one woman who has been able to stand the test of time in Hollywood and continue to wow us with her trendy, sexy style, it is Sharon Stone.

Ever since we first spotted this stunning blonde in some of her earliest movies - Tears in the Rain, Total Recall, Basic Instinct, Last Action Hero, The Specialist, and Casino, just to name a few - we have not been able to take our eyes off her, and really, who would want to?

A serious idol for women of all ages, Sharon really shows us how to dress great at all stages of life.

At fifty, she is still just as magnificent as she was in her twenties, which is not something that most women can brag about.

She looks perfect in just about everything she throws on but seems to favor names like Calvin Klein and Versace in particular.

Both men and women love her, and it is really no surprise. Sharon Stone has a certain flair to her style, and she is certainly no slave to the latest fads yet always manages to look modern and pretty.

Many people try to emulate her style but none can compare, because there is only one Sharon Stone and she certainly holds her own.

Sharon Stone is a true style icon from head to toe and we know that she is only going to continue taking our breath away and grabbing our attention, and we’re sure that she can handle it.

Hot Accessory: Chunky Necklaces

May 16, 2008 Author: Michelle | Filed under: Accessories, Celebrities, Colors, Reviews, Styles, Women

One of the hottest summer fashions this year is the chunky necklace. Done in a variety of forms, these big, bold necklaces always make a statement, and you can use them to bring a splash of color to any ensemble.

From feathers and chains to beads and baubles, there is such a vast and varied selection to choose from that you are sure to find pieces you love.

Just be careful to keep other jewelry to a minimum when you are wearing one of these oversized chains, because you do not want to overdo it.

One of my favorite looks featuring this hot new accessory is a plain white t-shirt or tank top and simple skirt, especially when you do the necklace in a bright color like orange or hot pink, because it adds flair to the simplicity of the outfit and the color by your face will brighten you up.

Perfect for summer, these necklaces range in design and price, so take a bit of time to browse through the selection and find a few that you adore.

Here are a few of my favorites that you may want to add to your jewelry collection just in time for the upcoming summer season.

Chunky Necklaces

Turquoise Pendant Necklace, by Spiegel, Spiegel, $34.99; Silver Necklace with Silver Polygon Charms by Pistachio Jewellery, Makoosh, £209.99; Chunky Tiger’s Eye Stone Necklace by Roberta Chiarella, Blueluxe, $70.50; Three-Color Necklace by Ben Amun, Saks Fifth Avenue, $200; Sea Monster Necklace by Vivienne Westwood Red Label, Netaporter, $645.

Garage

Although Garage, a Canadian-based clothing and accessory retailer, may feature a lot of teen wear, they have some great - and cheap - styles for summer.

I’m 24 myself and still love the place. They have some adorable sundresses, jeans that fit and offer length to us tall ladies, and super cute accessories.

Of course I love to splurge when I find that great bag, pair of heels, and don’t even get me started on the Betsey Johnson line, but if I have just a bit of money here and there and want to get a bag full of bargain - but still quality - stuff, I can always find what I’m looking for at Garage.

For even a hundred bucks you can get a super cute outfit or two, some accessories to match, and they even have a fun little candy rack set up at the front of the store…why I’m not quite sure but heck, I’ll take it.

They don’t have the most vast or varied selection but there are definitely some sweet pieces I have picked up this year already that are definitely going to be staples in my wardrobe for the summer season to come, and beyond.

You can check them out for yourself online via their website, or visit one of their many retail stores, which you can find in every province as well as across the U.S.

Dress Up for Your Dog

Dog Fashions

We are always worried about what we are wearing, what is in fashion for us, but what about our furry little friends? If a dog really is man’s best friend, shouldn’t they get to dress in style too?

Okay, some people think dressing up dogs is a little strange, some find it pointless, but I think it’s pretty cute. There are some terrific retailers out there offering some adorable and super stylish doggie fashions, so if you are like me and would like to get your hands on some of these, here are a few places you will want to check out.

Glamour Dog

A Canadian-based company, Glamour Dog is a company well worth checking out if you are looking for sweaters, coats, shirts, even dresses and Halloween costumes for your dog.

They ensure that each and every one of their dog outfits is not only fashionable but functional as well, and the specially tailored clothing lines featured on their sites are designed specifically with your dog in mind.

Your dog will not only look super cute but be comfortable, which is very important and also keep them from getting disturbed with you for dressing them up like Batman.

The Little Windup Pup

Another retailer you will want to check out is The Little Windup Pup. They not only feature a vast selection of clothing for your dog but as well dog beds, dog bowls, dog carriers, dog collars, dog pajamas, dog tees, and even jewelry for your dog.

Their mission is to bring customers the most unique and ever-evolving collection of designer dog apparel and accessories, and their staff is committed to providing customers with the best service possible so if you have any questions or need help shopping online they will be more than willing and able to help you out.

They even have a collection of unique items for your dog which are a lot of fun, such as the poochie polish and pink dog visor.

At The Dog Shoppe

If you are looking for a more high-end store for dressing your dog, there is At The Dog Shoppe.

Their online boutique is vast and easy to navigate through. It offers the best in dog tees, dog polos, dog fleeces, dog coats and much more.

They have a ton of adorable and modern t-shirts and mom and dog matching outfits which are really sweet. Their prices a bit more expensive than some of the smaller retailers but well worth it for the quality you receive.

Whether you are a fan of doggie fashions or not you have to admit that some of these products are pretty darn cute, and if you have pets they are worth at least checking out.
